Cover for my "Book of Dreams"

I decided to post the cover for my "Book of Dreams"...I couldn't stand it any longer...It was sitting there looking at me, "post me post me". I gave into it, so here it is lol.
I am not really good at this antique looking art, but I did say I wanted to do something different. The book cover is actually a bit bigger than the pic posted. I used my scanner because I am not really very good with a camera.

Any and all comments are welcome! Thank you!

Happy Creating!

Very nice. I love that distressed look. What technique did you use to achieve the white layered look? Great work! Can't wait to get started tomorrow:)

Thanks Artsymama! I am using a cloth scrapbook for this project..I started out by using Gesso to cover the entire book, then used antiquing gel an rubbed off extra with paper toweling...I then dipped a small brush into white acrylic paint and brushed in spots to give it more of an antique look and rubbed it in real well...Still not sure what to seal it with...

It looks good! The project will be fun. :) I spent HOURS in the bookstore last night searching for THE perfect book to use. There isn't one! Anyway, maybe I'll find something soon or just make my own. Did you buy a journal, or are you altering a book?

Thanks Tara...I had a scrapbook sitting around with nothing in it just begging to be altered lol...so that is what I am using. It has a cloth cover and was so simple to paint on. Best of luck to you on finding "the" perfect book. I find my best altering books at flea markets or antique shops!

Well, that is so cool that you took a new book and made it look old. Impressive :)
